Townsend House is Birr’s only Fáilte Ireland approved and registered Guest House.
It is a luxurious Georgian house located in the centre of Birr’s fine heritage town.Townsend House Tapas and Wine Bar now open Friday/Saturday 6pm .
The guest house was completely re-furbished in 2003.
Accommodation
All rooms are decorated with a Georgian theme and have the finest antique furniture with a mixture of king and queen size beds. All bedrooms are ensuite, complete with direct dial telephone, multi channel TV and tea/coffee making facilities. Two large family rooms are available.

Wine Bar
Our guests can relax in our old world wine bar in front of our wood burning stove and can sample our great selection of wines.
Breakfast Room
We offer two large breakfast rooms both with open fire places and can seat 24 people. Breakfast bar with selections of cereals, fresh fruit, yogurts,smoothies, jams and home made brown/soda bread and scones.
Traditional and buffet style breakfast served. All our produce is purchased locally.
Beautiful Gardens
You can relax in our garden in our seating area or walk through the lawn area to admire the great range of flowering shrubs and plants.You can also sample some of our organic vegetables in our vegetable garden.
